RDA (NSW) Ryde Centre relies on volunteers who give their time to us and support us in so many ways.  Honorary Life Membership is conferred to volunteers of the Centre as recognition of their years of service, commitment and contribution to RDA.

Wal Scott-Smith - July 2014

Wal has been a dedicated Thursday volunteer for over 25 years assisting in caring for the horses, activities with riders in the arena and supporting new volunteers to the Centre.  The Mayor of Ryde, Roy Maggio presented Wal with his Life Memberhship. 

Jan Fitzhardinge - March 2016

Jan began volunteering at Ryde in 1991.  She is known as a quiet achiever and her many years of horse experience has been invaluable.  Throughout her association with the Centre, Jan has worked tirelessly to support our riders, coaches, volunteers, fundraising and working bees.  In addition to her work at Ryde, Jan volunteers each year at the RDA NSW Mounted Games/Horse of the Year at Sydney Royal Easter Show and the RDA NSW State Dressage Championships.

Brenda Phillips - March 2016

Brenda began volunteering at Ryde in 1988.  She fills several vital roles including Senior Coach, Horse Manager and has taken a pivotal role in our fundraising events.  Brenda is our Tuesday and Thursday coach when riders from Special Needs Schools in addition to individual riders come to the Centre.  Being a ‘city based centre’ Brenda has extra responsibilities with the horses ensuring they have time out of their yards to have access to grass.

Louise Neill - March 2017

Louise began volunteering at Ryde in 1993 and became a Coach in 1994, Senior Coach in 2000 and is currently studying to be a Connections Coach.  Louise is one of our Saturday coaches and assists with the therapeutic classes and coaches our riding skills and dressage classes.  In addition to her work at Ryde, Louise is Chairperson of the RDA (NSW) State Dressage Committee.
