Year 11/12 Students from Trinity Grammar came to the Centre 20-24th March as part of their Community Service program. We were fortunate to have such hard workers do many jobs around the Centre such as gardening, painting fences, digging ditches. On the last day, they were rewarded with being the participants in a ‘Connections class’ where they met the horses, hand groomed and then some took part in the full connections program where the horse chose which boy they wanted to work. This bond allowed the boys to direct the horse off lead, around an obstacle course without touching or talking to the horse. Some of the boys had not had contact with pets before so to work with a pony/horse, gain their trust and have the horse follow the boys wherever they went, was quite an experience for them. The smiles on their faces said it all.
Many thanks to Trinity Grammar for allowing their students to come to RDA Ryde for the Community Service and we look forward to being considered for their Community Service Program again next year.
