It takes a very special horse to become an RDA horse and we are very lucky to have our incredible team.
All horses have a trial period where the Coaches work with the horse and observe their behaviour, how they react around children and adults, and being groomed and tacked. They are introduced to our activities equipment and participate being led in mock classes, all before being officially welcomed into the program.
Without our incredible team of horses, we would not be able to provide our therapy classes.
“It is amazing what a healing effect horses can have… that might bridge the gap that a well-intended human just can’t do.”
BUCK BRANNAMAN
Our herd receive hard feed at least twice a day due to not being on pasture, and have regular visits form the farrier, vet & dentist (yes, horses have to brush their teeth too!). Their continued upkeep requires volunteers attend the Centre multiple times a day to receive & distribute feeds, ensure their health, well-being and ongoing training is continued.
The annual costs of each horse is roughly $5,000 – $6,000 each year. To find out more about these expenses, or to make a donation please visit our donations page.

“The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings you in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and freedom.”
