Ron
Volunteer, Sound Guy, Committee

February 2012 saw me leave the ABC workforce after four decades of service. Although technically “retired”, I’m now thrilled to find myself busier than I’ve ever been, doing precisely the same audio work I’ve long enjoyed, only now as a volunteer!
One of many very pleasant surprises has been my early discovery of what’s now become my regular “volunteering home”, at the Ryde Centre of Riding for the Disabled (NSW) which is set in a glorious bushland acreage. I feel that it’s now time for me to “repay” my lifelong great good fortune, by means of the provision of facilities and expertise to Ryde Centre.
Accordingly, I’m now kept busy being something of an “engineer”, “technical director”, “MC”, “host”, “DJ”, “lighting director”, and many more, who tailors his own inventory of “state of the art” wireless and/or cabled equipment to each individual event.
I carry on mentoring, training, supervising, planning, rigging, acquiring and delivering, with no two days being alike. All part of my endlessly adaptive lifelong commitment to excellence in audio with vision.
